When you think of an elopement wedding what do you imagine? Just the two of you and an officiant and a photographer? Sometimes that is the perfect elopement and there have been many that I have photographed where I have filled the role of one of the witnesses. While I absolutely love being a part of weddings as intimate as that, there is something special about one that is still intimate, but includes a handful of guest. Perhaps just a few best friends, maybe just some family or some combination of the above- either way there is something special about such an intimate celebration surrounded by those closest to the bride and groom.
Keltie and Crispin did both! In the morning they tied the knot with an officiant in a park with a couple of friends as witnesses, followed by the most beautiful, intimate wedding in her parents’ backyard. Surrounded by just a handful of their family they were married at sunset under a beautiful tree. On top of their spectacular style (see both of their incredible taste in outfits), was their adorable intimacy seen through their brief touches and genuine smiles and laughter. Such wonderful people to work with and such a fun elopement wedding to photograph. See for yourself the fun that we had.
2021 Highlights
2021 was quite a year. Originally starting out similar to 2020 it ended up being a one of a kind season. Despite being the roller coaster of a ride that it was, it was full of incredible couples and beautiful moments that I was so honoured to be able to capture. Here are a few of my favourites from this year and a handful from 2020 since I never got around to posting my favourites from then.
Myriam & Aren's Wedding by Joey Rudd Photography
Similar to so many other couples this year, Myriam and Aren had to change their plans for their wedding many times. This included changes that they had to make the day before as new COVID restrictions came into place as they were at their rehearsal the evening before. But through it all these two kept their spirits up and pushed on. Their wedding may have ended up being more intimate than they originally planned and hoped, but it was still perfect!
Surrounded by their families, these two tied the knot and took the next step in their journey together at a cute little farm on the outskirts of Ottawa. Lovely weather and beautiful people were just a couple aspects of their perfect day. Since the farm was only a few minutes away from my place, they even took a trip out to a pond on our property for some photos! It was fun to use it for a wedding and my girls were excited to wave from the front porch as we drove by.
